Oh that personal mission statement of mine

Dear Blog,

What’s important to me?

My immediate response to this deceptively simple question is trust... happiness... money if we're being honest... but those are all surface answers, and don't help me determine how I want to define myself.

Thinking about what is important to me in reference to what I do challenges those initial responses. Those answers are something like: I want to help people make themselves smarter, more informed, better suited, and happier. I want to challenge archaic solutions in massive industries like finance, education, employment, and transportation.

Now, those are some lofty goals for a 23-year-old part-time Canadian and all-time dick-around. The comforting thing is though, small changes on a large scale can create large changes on a global scale; with knowing this, my goals become less daunting.

Selfishly thinking about what I am good at and empathetically thinking about how I can help have resulted in more than a few anxious nights of stir-craziness, but they might just be leading to me being able to define what I want to do, how I want to help, and the changes that I can make.

But how do I define that?

Well, here's an attempt:

I use my abilities in conversation and design to create products that inspire individuals to run their lives in a more empowered way.

Looking forward to getting this ripped apart 🤟

Love, Jonathan
